A well earned time out spent in northern Michigan gave me a chance to reconnect with my camera. No rush, no time watching, just a few clicks here and there. It was peaceful.
Peace in the world today is hard to find, especially as we try on our own. The mention of peace comes from the pen of many a disciple. The book of John:
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome world.”
Romans contains so many.
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
Romans 14:19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
As does the book of Corinthians:
2 Corinthians 13:11, 13-14 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. All God’s people here send their greetings. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
In the letters of the New Testament we find verses similar to the following.
2 Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
Philemon 1:3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
“…brothers and sisters in Christ: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.
This by far is the phrase/blessing/hello and goodbye repeated in the epistles over and over.
What comfort. What direction and strength we can find in these verses. Confidence, strength, wisdom and understanding come from peace. When we are at peace we listen with more interest. With love with His love. We encourage others by our example in situations. Peace.
Now, may the peace of God, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, the Communion of Saints and the Forgiveness of sin keep you hearts in Christ Jesus from this day forward and forevermore. Amen.
Peace, so needed. Peace, a calm that opens our ears, our hearts and our minds to His spirit. Peace incomparable. May you find it. Amen
