The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5

I love the night I see my first firefly. It takes my breath away and I smile. I watch for them for the weeks following the first. I am amazed how they communicate. Lighting their behinds so the other fireflies can see them. A little flicker to the right, and a slight flicker to the left. Each blink of yellow light moving closer to the other. Oh such simple joys.

I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
John 12:46

Today was a rough day. I have a feeling there will be many more before we are on the other side of the dark time. I hope to be a light in this darkness. To reveal a peace that only Christ can give. To let that peace permeate everything I say and do so those around me who are fearful will see Jesus shining bright.

I am reminded by my little friend to shine. To flash or blink or even flicker so those around me can see and follow the one who lights the way. He has us in His hands and will hold steadfast. In Him there is peace, peace like none other. Rest in it.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light
